Sat, 12 July 2008 This episode was kind of booted out the door due to personal issues (Tyler is headed out of town for a family emergency...the episode was edited and these show notes were written while Tyler was on a cross-country flight). We got a voicemail from TheAvenger121 about a comment we made about "No I In Leader." Do the Zordon rules apply to the JF Rangers and Jungle Master Mode or its it just victim to the whims of Sentai footage and arbitrary decisions by writers? We talk up the latest PRJF episode, "Path of the Rhino." Fran falls in love, Dominic is pretty cool, and Casey still takes it in the face. How did it fare? Well now you'll just have to listen. And somewhere along the way Chris and Ry get sidetracked with Doctor Who and homoeroticism among Kalish-era Red Rangers. Also, with Rangercast's 100th episode a mere, uh, five episodes away (yay math), we're putting out the call. If you want to send congratulatory messages or just sound off in any way you feel like sounding off, call us up at 206-339-9419 and leave a message, or email us an audio file. Oh, and we've kind of noticed a shift in what we've been discussing, our statistics, and the number of *active* listeners (commenters, feedback,etc.). So we thought it would be interesting to throw this out there: What do YOU want to hear on Rangercast? Seriously, we don't do this show for our health or for our wallets (Ask Tyler). We do it for your enjoyment. You want more Toku? We can do that. You want Chris and Ry to go on for two hours about their Doctor Who's relevance in the PRU? Uhm, okay, we can do that. So just send us an email and let us know what's up. Also, as mentioned in the first paragraph, Tyler is currently out of town. While certainly, he's put up episodes from Los Angeles before (*cough*), due to family issues, that is pretty much not gonna happen. Therefore, RC will be taking a break for however long until he gets back to town. But don't worry, we have some kickass stuff planned to make the wait eventually worth it.. Comments[26] |
Wed, 9 July 2008 That episode title was WAY too easy. Tonight, our guest is fan Joe Rovang. Creator of the writer's guide, Did You Know?, Psycho Demented Apathy Rangers, Power Rangers: Take Flight, and oh so much more. We talk to him about the history of the fandom, his part in it, his numerous projects, and whether or not he plans to introduce his kids to PR. Needless to say, we've wanted to get him on the show for a long time. Comments[6] |
Sun, 29 June 2008 Tyler, Chris, Ryland, and Darrin talk up "No I In Leader" and "True Friends, True Spirits." These chocolate anchovies could use some more salt. Uhm yeah. Not much out of the ordinary this week. Though we assure you we're working on that. Otakon is merely a month and some change away. In Rangerboard Masterpiece Theatre, RedLifeguardRanger has an idea for an ultimate showdown. Comments[6] |
Wed, 25 June 2008 A key part of the PR fandom is its fanfiction, so we thought it would be fun to spotlight some of the most tenured writers in the community. This episode, we're happy to welcome prolific fanfic author Ellen Brand. We talk about what motivates her to write fanfics after over a decade, her favorite fanfics, and why Agony in Pink is not a good way to introduce somebody to the art-- never was, never will be. Fri, 20 June 2008 Tyler got himself a new computer. So if the sound is a little off, it's because a certain somebody is still learning Garage Band. In the news: -First Germany gets MMPR onward on DVD, and now England gets DVD sets of Ninja Storm through Overdrive. In English! But there's a catch. We ask whether or not the DVD's are worth it, and how this makes things look on our side. -Kamen Rider Dragon Knight is picked up by CW....4Kids. We wait for the rap theme -Somebody made us a YT video...we're internet famous now... Also, we discuss the new JF episode Friends Don't Fade Away. We really did not want to like it, but... OP: Masaaki Endoh's freaking badass MMPR cover off his new album ED: We haz ending theme! Woot for Garage Band! Comments[14] |
Thu, 12 June 2008 We talk up the last of the pre-strike episodes, "Bad To The Bone," written by Bruce Kalish, who, while recording, we learn via a post by Poweranimals has a new gig for next season, with the new Jetix series "Aaron Stone." We here at Rangercast wish him the best of luck in his new position. Then we briefly dance around the grave that is his tenure. Oh, and as for "Bad to the Bone," it sucked. How much did it suck? Well you'll just have to listen. Comments[27] |
Sat, 7 June 2008 Tyler, Darrin, and Mike talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly of what went down in Chicago at Acen.-Murphy's Law goes on the attack -Was JDF doggin' Jeremy? -Panels...yeah -The skywalk to nowhere -Good times in the Freakin' Suite -Why you all need to see Machine Girl And more! Check the notes for RC87 for some pictures. And here's a video of people dancing to burn time before the opening ceremonies. Some more vids should be uploaded on that account soonish. Comments[7] |
Thu, 29 May 2008 Tyler, Chris, and Ryland talk up the latest Jungle Fury two-parter, "Ghost of a Chance." Somewhere in there, certain people try to drag the show into a Doctor Who tangent, which Tyler just doesn't get. Also, Latham Gaines poked his head back into RB to see what was up. He came up with a pretty awesome alternate ending for DT. In Rangerboard Masterpiece Theatre, jp3711nc asks for cosplaying tips. Oh, and shoutouts to the fine folks at Balticon for making my Memorial Day weekend rock hard. I did two panels on podcasting with people like Tee Morris, Martha Holloway, Jared Axelrod, J.R. Blackwell, and a couple other people, and it was tons of fun. I look forward to Balticon 43, and Shore Leave 30, for which I was just enlisted as a new media panelist. Yeehaw. Comments[18] |
Sat, 24 May 2008 So Acen was last weekend in Chicago. It was pretty cool, but due to circumstances beyond my control, much of my Anime Central coverage just...couldn't happen. But I was there, and thanks to the good graces of certain people, it was not a total loss. ![]() So here is the audio from a press conference with Jason David Frank, Steve Cardenas, Karan Ashley, and Robert Axelrod. It was a lot of fun to do, and I hope you have fun listening to it. Oh, and check out my photos here! Comments[2] |
Wed, 14 May 2008 A quick little episode before the trip to Acen tomorrow. Tyler and Darrin (with brief special guest star Ryland) talk up Pushed to the Edge and One Master Too Many. The fates hated us as we recorded this. We tried to record Sunday, didn't work, then a new JF ep hit Monday, we recorded this. And just now the next episode, Ghost of a Chance I, hit Jetix.tv. Whoops. Next time on Rangercast: Anime Central 2008. Oh yes. Tune in for interviews, crazy moments, and anything else we can squeeze in. Good times. Comments[1] |
